Preserve Majority-Minority Zone

Use COI drawing to preserve the majority-minority zone

On the upper left corner of the interface, there is a dropdown list. Pick an attribute in this list, the map will be visualized on this attribute. We can pick a minority population and show the population density on the map. Then use "Draw COI" to circle around the high population density area to draw the majority-minority zone. When calculating the districts, these zones will be preserved.

The majority-minority zones can also be created outside of iRedistrict and be loaded into iRedistrict as a shapefile layer.

Use regionalization technology to create majority-minority zones.

Regionalization is another technology that we provide. It is outside of iRedistrict.

With regionalization technology, we can automatically construct the region boundaries based on the attribute value. In the image below, the left map shows the population density, the right map shows the regions constructed by the software.
