Split and Merge Plans
To split the plan that you saved, click Tools->Split a shapefile from the menu. The Unit Shapefile is the shapefile that you want to split, and the District Shapefile is the redistricting plan result that you saved before. For the split function, the Unit Shapefile can be based on the District Shapefile.
In the example below, there are eight districts in the District Shapefile. As a result, eight new shapefiles will be created. The newly generated shapefiles are ‘_shape_District1.shp’, ‘_shape_District2.shp’…and so on, up to ‘_shape_District8.shp’ .
To merge shapefiles, click on Tools->Merge shapefiles in the menu, and choose the shapefiles that you want to merge. By specifying the output directory, you will get a merged shapefile result within the selected folder.
